OLDER PETITIONS AND INFORMATION.

Camp Noark in Huntsville, Arkansas tried to save their camp!
THIS OLDER PETITION WAS AT CHANGE.ORG
This group is talked to their Board about keeping their camp.
This petition was sent to their Board Chair and also their CEO.
The last comment on this page was 11 months ago. Darn.

OLD - - - - SAVE OUR CAMPS (GSEIWI)

GSEIWI camp names pix

August 2015: The Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois tried to keep the time-honored names of 4 of their camps.
This was the petition to allow the girls and volunteers to have the choice of keeping their camp names.
From the page: "We want our council to communicate openly and honestly about plans and actions they are considering that concern our camps. We want our council to let members have an active role in council decisions."
Another volunteer saids, "The Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa western Illinois Council has narrowed the re-named camp choices and are completely blocking the option of members voting to retain the name Camp Conestoga.
Not only is the council refusing to be inclusive of the wishes of girls today they are ignoring the girls from nearly 70 years who ago picked the name Camp Conestoga when a camp naming contest was held, and Conestoga was chosen in as the camp name in 1946."

Some older sites of interest...

Trefoil Integrity - NE Ohio - find out the stories behind the Consolidation/Mergers, Girl Scout camps being closed and more. The author has kept this open for other Girl Scouts.
Freinds of Eagle Island (NJ) - Working to Save Eagle Island Camp for Future Generations - please do not inquire there. They are no longer a Girl-Scout-related camp, but did save it. Kudos to them!
"Rebel Scout": (a FB page once listed here) is now a closed page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/505848892787807/. They advocated for Camp Tahigwa in Iowa. I was a member earlier, but have been taken off. They still have the group though if you are in this council and are curious, and if they OK you.
Save Our Girl Scout Camps - (was for Iowa and Illinois) (FB group) - they had a GoFundMe page, but this has been closed to further donations.
